TAC Sustainability Action: Earth Day 2026
On Wednesday, 22 April 2026, Scouts and families across the Transatlantic Council have an opportunity to come together for Earth Day. Since the first Earth Day in 1970 launched the modern environmental movement, it has been a day for people everywhere to take action for the planet. This year, we are encouraging every member of the Transatlantic Council to join in. Whether you spend an hour or two on your own, with your family, den, patrol, troop, crew, or pack, your actions matter.
Take Action and Put Your Pin on the Map
Take part on Wednesday, 22 April, or any day from the weekend before through the weekend after. Big project or small, every action counts. Then help us show the impact of Scouting across the world.
We are creating a TAC Earth Day map with a pin for every activity reported. Imagine seeing Scouts from all across the Transatlantic Council taking action in their communities – from conservation projects and cleanups to learning, planning, and making changes at home. After your activity, please share what you did using this Google Form.
Be sure to use the hashtag #TACEarthDay2026 when you share your activity online.
Looking for Ideas?
Many Earth Day activities can connect directly to rank advancement and the core Scouting program. Here are 12 ways you can participate:
- Learn more about the Leave No Trace principles and the Outdoor Code.
- Explore the difference between renewable and non-renewable natural resources.
- Investigate climate change or biodiversity loss.
- Watch, read, or listen to something about a sustainability topic.
- Plan meals that reduce the climate impact of your family’s food choices.
- Improve how your family reduces, reuses, and recycles waste.
- Prepare for extreme weather conditions that could affect your community.
- Write a letter to a public official, your school, or even your family about a sustainability issue.
- Complete a Scouting for Clean Waterways project.
- Organize a Scouts Trash the Trash activity.
- Do any conservation or sustainability project at home or in your community.
- Turn off all the lights in your house for one hour in the early evening. Save energy, enjoy the quiet, and reflect on what nature does for you.
No action is too small. A single hour of effort can inspire your family, strengthen your community, and encourage other Scouts to participate.
