Summer Camp Progam for Displaced Ukrainian Scouts
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, over the past three summers there has been an incredible program offering Ukrainian Scouts a safe place to camp, learn, heal, and connect with Scouts from around the world.
In July 2023, Transatlantic Council hosted 33 Ukrainian Scouts during its Camp Alpine seasons at the International Scout Centre in Kandersteg, Switzerland, giving them their first traditional international summer camp experience since the start of the war. The week was filled with outdoor adventure, new friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Building on that success, the program was expanded in 2024 and moved to Poland. Stengthened partnerships with adult leaders from Scouting America, the National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine, and the Polish Scout Organization (ZHP), hosted 50 Ukrainian Scouts alongside 10 Scouts from the Transatlantic Council community. Additionally this partnership helped secured funding to provide essential camping equipment, empowering Ukrainian Scouters to run future camps independently.
In 2025, the collaboration returned to Camp Winiec, Poland, hosting 39 Ukrainian youth with 9 leaders, 24 Scouts and adult leaders from the USA and Germany, one Scout leader from the UK, and Polish Scouts as host partners. This week of Scouting, service, and international friendship offered mentorship, skill-building, and cultural exchange, making the camp a truly global experience.
