Managing finances efficiently is key to running a successful unit in Scouting America. The Unit Deposit Account (UDA) is a convenient, secure, and flexible solution designed to help units handle their financial transactions with ease.

Each registered unit—including Packs, Troops, Crews, and Ships—automatically has a UDA on file with the Transatlantic Council (TAC) Service Center. Think of it as a unit-specific bank account that allows funds to be safely stored and used for various Scouting-related expenses. Whether it’s purchasing supplies from the Program Supply Center, paying for camp registrations, or covering other council-related fees, the UDA streamlines financial operations, reducing the need for frequent reimbursements or out-of-pocket expenses.

  • Effortless Fund Management – Deposit money into the account and use it for approved transactions within Scouting America and the Transatlantic Council.

  • Trusted Person Access – The Committee Chair, designated as the account Controller, can assign Trusted Persons to help manage the unit’s finances.

  • Transaction Tracking – View transaction history at any time to keep finances transparent and organized.

  • Automated Notifications – Receive alerts for low balances and new transactions, ensuring the unit stays financially prepared.

  • Flexible Access & Permissions – The Controller determines individual permissions for each Trusted Person, ensuring the right people have the appropriate level of access.

  • Multiple Controllers – A second Controller can be added for additional oversight and convenience.

Getting Started

To add a second Controller or make updates to your unit’s account, please contact TAC-ServiceCenter-802@Scouting.org. There is no limit to the number of Trusted Persons assigned to a UDA, making it easy for leadership teams to collaborate efficiently.

Accessing Your Unit Deposit Account

Access your UDA via your Black Pug login at Black Pug System.

Balances from the former system were successfully migrated, but past transaction history will remain available in the old system for a limited time. Statements for all transactions from 2021 through the conversion date will be emailed to Unit Committee Chairs soon.

Making Deposits

Deposits must be processed through the Black Pug System by a Controller or a Trusted Person with the appropriate permissions.

(Cards must be debit or credit and bear the appropriate network logo. Additional payment options are being explored, but only payment cards are accepted at this time.)

Using Your UDA for Payments

A Trusted Person or the Controller must complete all UDA transactions for camp and activity fees or Program Supply Purchases. Please do not request staff to process these payments.
