The Magic of Intercamp 2026: Bridging Cultures and Flavors in Czechia
This year, Intercamp 2026 was hosted on a historic airfield in Ralsko, Czechia. Among the 3,000 enthusiastic youth in attendance were some of our very own from the Transatlantic Council, including the outstanding Scouts from Wiesbaden Troop 107 and Munich Troop 21!
Every year, thousands of Scouts from across Europe gather to celebrate the true spirit of Scouting. Intercamp is a unique, sprawling phenomenon that bridges cultures, languages, and borders. It’s an extended weekend where the standard currency is a friendly smile, a shared camp meal, and, of course, a feverish flurry of patch and neckerchief trading. For a few unforgettable days, young people from dozens of different nations realize that despite their different languages and backgrounds, they share the exact same values.
An International Gathering of Games and Scouting Spirit
The atmosphere at the airfield was electric. Throughout the weekend, Scouts participated in a wide array of games, team-building activities, and live music, making memories and building leadership skills alongside their international peers.
But as any Intercamp veteran will tell you, the true highlight of the entire event is the legendary International Potluck.
One Evening, Countless Flavors
During the potluck, units brought a taste of home to share with neighbors in their respective subcamps. Walking through the camping areas felt like traveling the globe in a single evening, ranging from traditional hometown recipes to the most wonderfully creative flavor combinations.
Our TAC units represented us beautifully in this culinary exchange. Notably, Troop 21 cooked up and shared a fantastic, hearty vegetarian chili, contributing a delicious and welcoming flavor to the global feast.
Events like Intercamp remind us of the incredible, borderless community our Scouts are a part of here in Europe. Thank you to the leaders, volunteers, and youth of our TAC units for representing the Transatlantic Council so well on the international stage!
And if this year’s Intercamp gave you major FOMO, now is the time to mark your calendars for the next adventure! Intercamp 2027 will take place May 14–17, 2027, in Merksplas, Belgium, hosted by the Belgian Scout organization. Set in a unique former prison area surrounded by beautiful forests and nature, Intercamp 2027 promises another unforgettable weekend of international friendship, outdoor adventure, campfires, and Scouting spirit. Thousands of Scouts from across Europe and around the world will gather for this incredible experience, and you won’t want to miss it! Registration opens December 1 at Intercamp.info.
