The Adventure of a Lifetime: Introducing the 2027 World Scout Jamboree in Poland

If you’ve been hearing excitement building in Scouting circles lately, it’s likely about one of the largest gatherings in the world: the 26th World Scout Jamboree, taking place in the summer of 2027.

Imagine a global Scouting city where 50,000 young people from more than 150 countries come together as friends from the moment they arrive. Held only once every four years, the World Scout Jamboree transforms a coastal site in Poland into a vibrant international camp filled with energy, culture, and adventure.

For two unforgettable weeks, Scouts live in a shared international community—trading badges, sharing meals, and discovering traditions from around the world. Days are filled with outdoor adventure, hands-on science and innovation, cultural exchange, and team challenges guided by the theme “Bravely.” Evenings bring large-scale campfires, music in many languages, and opening and closing ceremonies that unite thousands of flags in a celebration of global Scouting.

Language barriers quickly fade into shared experiences, laughter, and lifelong friendships. Supported by thousands of adult volunteers and International Service Team members, the Jamboree is carefully organized to ensure a safe, inspiring, and life-changing experience for every participant.

The 5 Ws of the 2027 Jamboree

WHO:
Scouts aged 14–17 from nearly every country in the world will attend. Older Scouts and adults may participate as International Service Team (IST) members. The U.S. Contingent will include approximately 1,000 participants across youth units and IST.

WHAT:
The World Scout Jamboree, organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), is held every four years. It is a non-competitive global event focused on outdoor adventure, cultural exchange, innovation, and leadership development.

WHEN:
July 30–August 8, 2027. Arrival begins July 29, with the Opening Ceremony on July 30. August 1 marks a global Scouting celebration recognizing 120 years of the movement. Departure follows the Closing Ceremony on August 8.

WHERE:
Gdańsk, Poland, on Sobieszewo Island along the Baltic Sea. The site offers forests, coastal landscapes, and a rich Scouting and cultural heritage.

WHY:
To experience Scouting on a global scale. From sharing meals with Scouts from other continents to trading badges and joining tens of thousands around a campfire, the Jamboree builds understanding, friendship, and perspective that lasts a lifetime.

What Does it Really Feel Like? (In Their Own Words)

Because a Jamboree is tough to fully explain through statistics alone, we gathered perspective from past participants who have stepped out into the global campsite:

The Magic of Common Ground

“The privilege to be able to walk up to any person wearing a Scout scarf and know you share something in common despite any political or religious conflict outside the jamboree—for me that was the most incredible part of the Jamboree.”

It’s Not Just a Camp, It’s a Growth Spurt

“It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my young life. World Jamboree really changed me. I learned how to really give back. And I came back, I think, a lot more grown up than when I went.”

Advice for First-Timers

“Open your heart and mind to the diversity of cultures… Try to plan your day with your patrol and unit, and aim to try different things every day: talk to somebody from a different country, try different foods, learn a new word… Believe me when I say that a Jamboree can change your life, so be present, soak in the magic of unity, and cherish every moment.”

Costs and What is Included

Participating in a World Scout Jamboree is a significant investment, with estimated costs of approximately:

  • Youth participants and unit leaders: $6,400–$6,700
  • International Service Team (IST): $2,900–$3,100
What the Fee Covers

To provide transparency for our families, we have broken down the primary expenses. Roughly 80% of your investment is comprised of three major categories:

  • Jamboree Fee: The base registration is 6,400 PLN (approximately $1,770 USD). This represents a notable increase of nearly $800 compared to the previous global gathering in South Korea.
  • Airfare: Scouting America will facilitate travel for Scouts from major regional hubs like Seattle, Boston, and San Francisco. Because we travel during the height of the European summer season, flight costs are a substantial variable. We are aiming to bundle these costs for participants departing from most major airports.
TAC scouts will receive a refund on the US-Airfare but need to arrange their own travel to a TAC Hub City in Europe from where TAC scouts will travel to the event.
  • Pre-Tour: A highlight of the journey is our 4-5 day cultural tour prior to the event. This experience is vital for unit bonding and exploring Poland’s local heritage before the main campsite opens.

The total package also provides for several other essential requirements:

  • Swag and Gear: Scouts will receive a customized kit including a duffle, daypack, unit neckerchiefs, event patches, and official apparel.
  • Tents & Cots: In a departure from the 2023 event, the host organization is not providing sleeping gear. Our contingent fee includes high-quality tents and cots for all members.
  • Insurance: Comprehensive coverage is included to ensure the health and safety of every participant throughout the trip.
  • Contingency: A dedicated reserve fund to manage any unforeseen travel or logistical variables.

A Note on IST’s Jamboree Fee

For our International Service Team volunteers, the fee covers the gear, insurance, and on-site costs mentioned above, but excludes airfare and the pre-tour. This allows IST staff the flexibility to arrive according to their specific work assignments and individual travel preferences.
