Cub Scout Uses First Aid Skills to Help Injured Traveler in Switzerland
On Friday, May 8, Ava, a Webelos Cub Scout from Pack 232, was traveling with her family in Switzerland when she saw a nearby traveler fall and suffer a head injury with a significant cut above his eyebrow. Because she had brought her first-aid kit and knew how to use it from her Cub Scout training, Ava quickly stepped in to help.
She provided care and comfort to the injured man while waiting for medical help to arrive, putting her Scouting skills into action in a real-world situation.
Ava has been a Cub Scout for three years, beginning her Scouting journey as a Wolf in 2023. She is currently a Webelos Scout and has been part of Pack 232 in Ramstein the entire time her family has been stationed in Germany. Over the past three years, Ava has embraced everything Scouting has to offer and has gained valuable skills, confidence, and experience along the way.
Stories like this are a powerful reminder of what Scouting is all about. The lessons taught in den meetings, camp activities, and hands-on experiences go far beyond fun. They build confidence, preparedness, and the ability to step up when others need help most.
