Transatlantic Council Presents Annual Report to Supreme Allied Commander Europe

On May 5, 2026, the Transatlantic Council (TAC) of Scouting America continued a revived tradition, delivering its annual Report to Command during a visit with Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Alexus G. Grynkewich.

General Grynkewich, who assumed his post on July 4, 2025, serves as Commander of U.S. European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe. He oversees a forward-deployed combatant command spanning Europe and surrounding regions, with more than 80,000 personnel and partnerships with NATO and 50 nations. As SACEUR, he directs all NATO military operations.

The visit marked a significant moment for TAC leadership and youth members, particularly as the long-standing Report to Command tradition has only recently been reinstated after a two-decade hiatus. TAC leadership resurrected it last year when they met with SACEUR General Christopher Cavoli, a TAC Eagle Scout, who was presented with the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award at the time and included TAC’s Report to Command.

General Grynkewich is an Eagle Scout, so it was only fitting for TAC Scout Executive/CEO Joshua Dick, also a TAC Eagle Scout, to greet him by offering his left hand.

Dick was joined by TAC Vice President of Membership Michael Marro, along with several Scouts from Pack and Troop 0325 based at SHAPE: Maggie H., an Eagle Scout; Gabriel T., a First Class Scout; Ava D., a Wolf Scout; and Theo C., a Webelos Scout. Also in attendance was Colonel Jody Daigle, Commander of the SHAPE Base Support Group and Chartered Organization Representative for the units, who is also an Eagle Scout.

During the visit, the Scouts introduced themselves, sharing their ranks, unit affiliations, and favorite Scouting experiences. Highlights included memories of Camp Alpine in Kandersteg, Switzerland, and participation in Pinewood Derby races.

Dick and Marro presented TAC’s 2025 Annual Report, which detailed the council’s achievements over the past year. The report noted that 91 Scouts earned the rank of Eagle Scout, with a total of 1,423 ranks achieved across the council. Additionally, TAC Scouts contributed approximately 24,000 service hours, representing an estimated community impact value of $829,000.

The report also highlighted key programs and milestones, including Camp Alpine, Camp Avantura, National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT), and Wood Badge courses. It further recognized TAC’s 75th anniversary celebration, held in Heidelberg, Germany, the birthplace of the council.

Looking ahead, Dick outlined initiatives for 2026, including participation in the Month of the Military Child in April, during which he presented General Grynkewich with a commemorative TAC Council Shoulder Strip. He also noted preparations for upcoming summer camps and the return of Camp Kenya later this year.

The delegation also extended an invitation to General Grynkewich for the Normandy Camporee, scheduled for April 16–18, 2027. The event holds special significance for TAC, which has been recognized by the French Republic as the “Custodians of Omaha Beach.”

The visit concluded with Dick presenting the General with a commemorative 75th anniversary TAC neckerchief, along with a U.S. 250th Anniversary and Scouting America coin.
