Remembering Robert Zadina, former Council Executive/CEO
With gratitude for a lifetime of service, the Transatlantic Council remembers Robert Zadina, former Council Executive/CEO. Bob’s Scouting journey began in the early 1950s while serving in the U.S. Army in Stuttgart, Germany, where he gained European Scouting experience and served as a Scoutmaster and District Executive in what was then known as the EUCOM Council.
Following his military service, he built a distinguished professional Scouting career in the United States, serving in a range of leadership roles across the Northeast Region, including district, council, and regional responsibilities in New Jersey and Massachusetts.
In late 1979, Bob returned to Europe as Scout Executive of the Transatlantic Council, serving until 1992. During his tenure, he provided steady leadership and helped strengthen Scouting across the international community. Across every role, Bob Zadina was known for his experience, dedication to youth, and commitment to the values of Scouting. His legacy continues to be felt throughout the Transatlantic Council and the broader Scouting movement.
“Bob Zadina was an exceptional leader, a tireless advocate for Scouting, and a driving force behind its growth and success throughout Europe. As TAC Scout Executive/CEO, he was constantly seeking new ways to strengthen the program and expand its impact on young people and families across the continent. I remember him vividly because he was my Scout Executive while I was growing up in Heidelberg, Germany. Whenever we visited the TAC offices, Bob always made time to connect with us. Even as a youth, I could see his passion for Scouting and his genuine commitment to the people he served. His leadership, vision, and dedication helped shape the Scouting experience for countless young people, and his influence continues to be felt by those whose lives he touched. I am grateful to have known him and to have benefited from his example.”
