Statement from Scout Executive Joshua Dick regarding Scouting and the US Military
Scouting Family of the Transatlantic Council,
In light of the statement released today by our Chief Scout Executive Roger Krone regarding the NPR report about the possible discontinuing of U.S. Military support to Scouting America and how it may affect our Council, we understand that many in our community may be feeling uncertainty or concern. At this time, we want to emphasize that we do not yet know what the final outcomes will be or whether any official decisions have been made. We will keep our members updated as soon as we learn more.
What we do know is this: the Transatlantic Council’s ties to our military community run deep. For decades, our programs have supported the children of U.S. service members, providing stability, leadership development, and a sense of belonging. We are here to support our Scouts, their families, and the communities they are part of. We are profoundly grateful for your continued support, flexibility, and commitment during uncertain times. Your dedication enables our Scouts to learn, grow, and thrive – no matter where they are in the world.
In moments like these, our Scouting values matter more than ever. We encourage all members of our community to remain engaged, support one another, and continue demonstrating active citizenship in their daily lives. Keep supporting your units, lifting up your fellow volunteers, and, above all, continuing to deliver strong, meaningful programs for our youth.
Please monitor official channels, such as Scouting America emails and our Council website for timely updates. We will share new information as soon as it becomes available. Should any immediate changes arise that require action from your unit, we will notify you directly with clear guidance.
