Pack 232’s Great Frontier Fall Campout

Pack 232’s Great Frontier Fall Campout

Howdy, partners! Cub Scout Pack 232 of Ramstein, Germany, hitched up the wagons and rolled out for our Fall Campout, with a Wild West twist. This year’s theme was The Great Frontier, and our Cub Scouts had a fantastic time.

A Weekend on the Trail

The weekend was built around the Great American West. A total of 168 Cub Scouts, siblings, and adults attended our weekend camp, and the campground was full of pioneers young and old.

Camp Mayhem: Frontier fun and games to kick off the adventure.

Dystentary!: A tongue-in-cheek lesson on water and food safety. Scouts learned how to keep their wagon party healthy on the trail. And we are happy to report that everyone survived.

Wagon Crossing: Every good pioneer needs to pack smart. Scouts reviewed the Six Essentials and talked through which extras are worth the space in the wagon.

Wildlife Tracking: Scouts learned to identify local animal tracks, a handy skill for any young explorer.

Cooking on the Trail: Fire safety and open-fire cooking, and a taste of what a hot meal on the frontier was really like.

Crossing the Prairie: Compasses and land navigation, so no one got lost on the trail

Boot-Scootin’ Finale

No frontier celebration is complete without a hoedown. We wrapped up the weekend with line dancing. Scouts, siblings, and parents all joined in, and there were plenty of laughs and a few missed steps along the way.

Thank You!

A big thank-you to everyone who helped make this campout so special: the volunteers who ran stations, the families who joined us, and everyone who traveled to be with us. Events like this are what Scouting is all about. Together, we learned new skills, made memories, and had a whole lot of fun.
