New Eagle Scout leadership service project workbook now available
Scouts BSA has released the October 2026 edition of the Eagle Scout leadership service project workbook. The new workbook is shorter and easier to use. It focuses on what a Scout needs to do to complete an Eagle Scout leadership service project.
What’s new:
- Same five parts. The workbook keeps the Information for Beneficiaries, Project Proposal, Fundraising Application, Project Plan, and Project Report.
- Fewer pages. The Scout’s portion is now 22 pages, down from 32 in the 2023 edition.
- Project plan required. Scouts must use the workbook’s project plan.
- Firm deadline for the report. Scouts must complete, sign, and date the project report before their 18th birthday.
- Better PDF. The 2026 edition fixes several Adobe PDF problems found in the 2023 edition.
- Stronger guidance. The workbook adds guidance on safety and Safeguarding Youth.
Already started in the 2023 workbook? If your project proposal was fully approved before January 1, 2027, you can finish with that workbook. Starting January 1, every Scout needs the beneficiary and Scoutmaster to approve the project plan before starting work, whichever workbook they use.
