Selfless Service: Celebrating Scouting Volunteers
Across the Transatlantic Council, the impact of our volunteers can be seen in every meeting, campout, and act of service. Their dedication shapes the Scouting experience in profound ways, creating opportunities for young people to grow, lead, and succeed.
Our volunteers are the backbone of Scouting. They lift others up. They recognize potential and they take the time to nurture it. They coach, mentor, and guide Scouts and fellow leaders alike, creating a culture where growth, confidence, and leadership can flourish. Their quiet dedication builds not just strong units, but strong people.

A recent moment from Troop 107 in Wiesbaden captures this spirit perfectly. Scoutmaster Thom Raymann presented outgoing Senior Patrol Leader and Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders with a Certificate of Appreciation and a Scoutmaster “Good Turn” coin in recognition of their leadership. During their tenure, the troop achieved significant milestones, including dozens of rank advancements and merit badges, numerous special awards, over 220 hours of service to the Wiesbaden community, and extensive camping and hiking accomplishments. These achievements reflect not only the Scouts’ leadership, but also the support and mentorship that made such success possible.
Behind achievements like these are volunteers who believed, encouraged, and empowered. Leaders like Thom Raymann, and so many others across our council, help shape young people into capable, service-minded leaders, while also fostering an environment where youth leaders like Wesley, Evan and Marcos can thrive and inspire their peers.
This National Volunteer Month, we extend our deepest gratitude to every volunteer who gives of themselves so generously. Your commitment does not go unnoticed. You are making a lasting difference, not only in the lives of Scouts today, but in the future they will help build.
