Honoring a Legacy of Service: Henry Legarre, Sponsor of the Transatlantic Council Eagle Class of 2026
The Eagle Scout rank represents years of dedication, leadership, service, and character. In recognition of this extraordinary achievement, the Transatlantic Council is proud to launch the annual Eagle Scout Naming Class, beginning with the Class of 2026. This inaugural class is sponsored by Henry Legarre, a lifelong Scouter whose commitment to youth, service, and leadership spans continents and generations.
Henry Legarre currently serves on the Transatlantic Council Executive Board as Treasurer and Camping Chair, and he brings with him a lifetime shaped by service, to country, community, and Scouting. A U.S. Army veteran, Henry went on to build a distinguished global career as a scientist, engineer, entrepreneur, and executive in the energy industry. Today, he is semi-retired and serves as the acting Chief Operating Officer of an AI technology company operating in Northern California and Houston.
At the heart of Henry’s story, however, is Scouting.
An Eagle Scout himself and the father of a Transatlantic Council Eagle Scout, Henry’s Scouting journey spans more than three decades and multiple regions of the world. He served as a Den Leader and Scoutmaster in West Africa for ten years, followed by another ten years as Scoutmaster in Geneva, Switzerland, leading Troops 77 and 682. During that time, he guided Scouts on camping trips, summer camps, and high-adventure experiences throughout Europe, Africa, and the United States, including all four BSA National High Adventure bases.
Henry’s dedication to Scouting leadership extends far beyond the troop level. He has served on the Executive Board of the Greater Yosemite Council as Vice President of Program, and remains active in NESA and Scouting in California, supporting multiple troop committees, serving as a program and activity chair, advising a High Adventure Explorer Post, and working as an Assistant Scoutmaster. His service has also taken him behind the scenes, staffing eight summer camps, Philmont Scout Ranch (three seasons), the National Scout Jamboree, and Brownsea 22.
Along the way, Henry has earned numerous Scouting recognitions, including the Silver Beaver, International Scouter Award, Spurgeon Award, Unit Leader Award of Merit, and designation as a Leave No Trace Master Educator. He is an Order of the Arrow Vigil Honor member, a NESA Life Member with Legacy Pin, and a supporter of Scouting through the Second Century Society, Order of the Condor, and Order of the Arrow Legacy Fellowship.
Outside of Scouting, Henry continues his commitment to youth and service as a Board of Trustees member for a children’s hospital, an organizer of fundraisers for Ronald McDonald House, a youth soccer and baseball coach, and an active participant in several professional societies.
A New Tradition: The Eagle Scout Naming Class
The annual Eagle Scout Naming Class creates a lasting way to honor both the Scouts who achieve the Eagle rank and a sponsor whose values reflect the Scout Oath and Law. As the inaugural sponsor, Henry A. Legarre lends both his name and legacy to the Transatlantic Council Eagle Class of 2026. Every Scout earning the Eagle rank in TAC between January 1 and December 31, 2026 will receive a custom Council Shoulder Patch designed by Henry, symbolizing this unique recognition. These naming rights are entirely honorary, celebrating shared values and a meaningful connection between generations of Eagle Scouts. In addition, a portion of the sponsorship supports the Eagle Scout Scholarship Program, which will award scholarships to three outstanding members of the TAC Eagle Class of 2026, with applications open from January 1–31, 2027.
A Legacy Worth Celebrating
By sponsoring the Eagle Class of 2026, Henry A. Legarre exemplifies what it means to live a life guided by Scouting’s values: leadership, service, global citizenship, and commitment to youth. His name on this inaugural class is not just a recognition of past accomplishments, but an inspiration to every Scout who earns the Eagle rank in the Transatlantic Council next year.
The Transatlantic Council is honored to recognize Henry A. Legarre and proud to welcome the Eagle Scout Class of 2026 under his name, a class built on service, strengthened by tradition, and prepared to lead the future.
