TAC 75th Anniversary Spirit Award: Leadership Starts Early

TAC 75th Anniversary Spirit Award: Leadership Starts Early

In April, Anderson earned his Arrow of Light. He didn’t waste a moment before hitting the ground running in his new Scouts BSA Troop, enjoying summer camp, working on merit badges, learning Scouting skills during Troop meetings, and exploring the outdoors during hikes and campouts. During the summer, Anderson learned about the Transatlantic Council’s 75th Anniversary Spirit Award. After reading through the requirements, he made a decision that says a lot about his character. He would complete every requirement needed to earn this award, tackling them one by one.

By the fall he only had one requirement left. Lead a project. Just days ago, Anderson led a team of volunteers in a flower bed clean-up project at his church. From planning to execution, the Tenderfoot Scout demonstrated teamwork, responsibility, and service, checking off that final requirement for the award. The moment of recognition made the journey even more meaningful. Anderson’s Senior Patrol Leader presented him with the Spirit Award patch in Bastogne, Belgium, where the Troop was spending Nuts! Weekend, honoring and remembering the soldiers who fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

From earning Arrow of Light to leading his own service project, Anderson is a powerful reminder that leadership, service, and initiative don’t wait for age or rank. Well done, Anderson. This is only the beginning.
