Fall Recruitment Incentives for Packs, Troops, and Crews

While scouts and scouters need to renew their membership individually, units must still recharter annually. Unit Renewal begins two months before the unit’s expiration date. There are TAC incentives for on-time chartering for Packs and Troops/Crews.

  • Cub Scout Packs will qualify for FREE Pinewood Derby cars for ALL the youth listed on their 2026 Charter if they pay and submit their charter by November 30, 2025.
  • Scouts BSA Troops, Venturing Crews, and Ships will receive $3.00 per scout in their TAC unit account!

To help your chartering go smoothly, check your rosters Now to make sure all the expected youth and leaders appear as registered on your roster!

Important Renewal Timeline & Access Info

  • Unit renewal opens two months prior to expiration, and units have a two-month grace (lapsed) period after expiration to renew without losing access. Leaders should start early to avoid delays or “dropped” status.
  • Only the Key 3 leaders (Unit Leader, Committee Chair, Chartered Organization Rep) or their designee have access to the Unit Renewal tool in Organization Manager.
  • Validation errors that block unit renewal include:
    • Insufficient required leadership roles
    • Expired Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) for any leader
    • Leaders under 18 years old
    • Youth not meeting age or grade requirements
Leaders must resolve these errors before proceeding.
  • The Position Manager tool allows Chartered Organization Representatives to update leadership roles before renewal; however, changes can take up to 24 hours to sync before they appear for validation.
