NYLT 2026 Course Director Announced
We are proud to announce the selection of Dennis Pugh as the Course Director for the 2026 National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) Course, the premier youth leadership training program for Scouting America. Dennis is a life-long Scout and Scouter with over 40 years in the program. He credits Youth Leader Training as one of the experiences that has had the most impact on his lifetime and military career. The leadership skills he learned there are skills he continues to use to this day.
Some of Dennis’s favorite moments in Scouting have been watching his two children grow and develop through the Scouting program, learning teamwork, responsibility, and leadership along the way. Dennis most recently served on the NYLT 2025 staff and brings with him a wealth of experience, dedication, and enthusiasm for helping youth leaders grow in confidence and ability.

With Dennis Pugh leading the 2026 course, participants can look forward to an incredible week of learning, growth, and Scouting adventure at Camp Freedom. The National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is designed to teach Scouts the skills they need to become effective leaders in their units and beyond. Through a combination of outdoor challenges, team-building activities, and hands-on leadership practice, participants learn how to communicate, plan, and lead with purpose.
