Transatlantic Council Sea Scouts Hold Change of Watch Ceremony to Welcome New Council Commodore

On September 11, 2025, aboard Sea Scout Ship 802, the Transatlantic Council (TAC) Sea Scouts held a Change of Watch ceremony to honor outgoing TAC Council Commodore Jose G. Lepervanche and welcome his successor, Trey Jaeger. The ceremony, led by Ship 802 Skipper Alex “Zero” Gross, was attended by TAC Sea Scouts, Sea Scouters, and National Sea Scout Commodore Sat Ciampo.

Commodore Lepervanche relaunched TAC Sea Scouting during the pandemic by chartering Ship 802 under Consolidated Scout Units 802, originally founded to support Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA members. Ship 802 became a pioneering hub for Sea Scouts across continents, combining interactive online meetings and videos with local aquatic activities wherever members were located.

While TAC Sea Scouting remains the smallest program within the council, its reach is remarkable, with Sea Scouts actively sailing the Adriatic Sea, the UAE, Kenya, and waterways across Europe. “I want to thank all TAC Sea Scouters and Sea Scouts for helping relaunch TAC Sea Scouting during the pandemic years,” said Commodore Lepervanche, now transitioning to TAC Commodore Emeritus. “As Commodore Emeritus, I will continue to support the new TAC Council Commodore’s vision, update online resources, support TAC Sea Scouts Alumni, and contribute to TAC International and Sustainability plans. I sail on my own boat, part of the TAC fleet of three Sea Scout Ships, and look forward to seeing you across TAC territories or online.”

Incoming TAC Council Commodore Trey Jaeger expressed gratitude for his predecessor’s leadership and pledged to guide TAC Sea Scouting into its next era of growth and adventure.
