Spring Cub-O-Ree Changes Plans

Spring Cub-O-Ree Changes Plans

The Charlemagne District Spring Cub-o-ree, originally scheduled for 20-22 March, unfortunately had to be cancelled. While this was disappointing for many families, the district still found a way to provide an enjoyable and memorable experience for the Cub Scouts.

Historical Trail in Brugges

On Saturday, 21 March, nine Cub Scouts and their parents gathered at the Brugge Train Station for the Brugge Historical Trail. The weather could not have been better, with clear skies and mild temperatures making it a perfect day to be outdoors.

The group completed the 3.2-mile walking tour through the historic city of Brugges. Along the route, Cub Scouts observed many of the city’s famous historical buildings, churches, canals, and monuments. The daffodils were in full bloom throughout the city, adding bright color to the parks, walkways, and canal banks. The group also enjoyed seeing the numerous white swans swimming in the canals, one of the most recognizable sights in Brugges.

A Day of Learning and Fellowship

Parents and Scouts alike enjoyed learning more about the rich history of Brugges while spending time together outdoors. The trail also gave Cub Scouts an opportunity to practice observation skills, teamwork, and appreciation for the local community and its history. Although the weekend did not unfold as originally planned, the day still reflected the spirit of Scouting through adventure, learning, and fellowship.

Trail Patch Presentation

At the end of the tour, each participant was awarded the Brugge Historical Trail patch in recognition of completing the trail. The event proved that even when plans change, Scouting can still provide meaningful experiences and lasting memories.
