Gravity-Powered Pinewood Derby Glory

Gravity-Powered Pinewood Derby Glory

What do Blue FireballNOT YO CHEESE!Eye-SeeSilver Surfer, and Berry Fast have in common?

They are all high-speed, gravity-powered race cars that tore up the track. Pack 44 hosted its annual Pinewood Derby, and while these cars don’t have motors, the energy in the room was high-octane.

The day kicked off with the official check-in and weigh-in, where Scouts got their first look at the competition. Every car started as a simple block of pine, and the resulting “speed creations” on display, ranging from sleek aerodynamic wedges to bold artistic designs, showcased incredible craftsmanship from our Cub Scouts.

Once the cars were released from the starting gate, the room was filled with cheers and sportsmanship. It was a race against the clock and physics, and every Scout walked away a winner for their hard work and creativity.

A big shout out to everyone who helped make it happen. The Scouts kept the volunteers on their feet. Thank you to our older Scouts for assisting and being part of the Cub Scout fun.
